For all volunteers who are new to ASAAP, or who want to brush up their skills from their last Core Skills Training, this interactive, 3-day training will allow you to develop an understanding of
a) the biology of HIV/AIDS including transmission, prevention, and risk
b) the sociology of HIV/AIDS, including stigma, resilience, and community support
c) volunteering roles at ASAAP
d) community outreach techniques, skills, and practices
Core Skills Training is offered 3 times a year (Winter, Spring, and Fall), and opens up opportunities for volunteers to participate more extensively in ASAAP’s programming. Volunteers must attend all three days in order to successfully complete the training.
Refreshments include a light breakfast and lunch. TTC Tokens are available for those who need them.

Time: 10am – 3pmThis is a programme-specific training opportunity for volunteers, and is included in Core Skills Training. This training covers information related to volunteering with our Sexual Health Prevention Education Programme at ASAAP. The training will cover issues pertaining to community outreach including LGBTQ issues, and working with women of diverse backgrounds and generations. To register, use this form.

This is a programme-specific training opportunity for volunteers who have completed Core Skills Training within the past year, or will be completing Core Skills Training in 2017, and who are interested in community outreach in volunteering with our PHA Support Program at ASAAP. The training will cover issues pertaining to PHA Support including making a positive difference in the lives of clients we serve, reducing HIV stigma, and engaging in other support program activities. What you can expect:
- Orientation and training to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to volunteer. (Offered three times a year, Core Skills Training includes workshops on HIV transmission, risk, HIV treatment information and an introduction to anti-homophobia, anti-sexism, and anti-racism. This is a basis to other program specific training sessions)
